Old shutters are great for lots of projects. Since they are already built, all you need to do is add your hardware. Most of the time I don't even have to re-paint them, especially if you like the shabby chic look. I've used both wooden (which I prefer) or plastic composite shutters in any style (depends on what you have available).
You need:
Cabinet knob\knobs with screws
A drill
Hooks or screws on the back for hanging
Paint (optional)
How to:
Drill a hole where you would like your knob to be placed.
Paint or distress your shutter.
Add your knobs and a hanger and you are done!
